City Ordinances
Below are specific ordinances that have been passed in the last few years. The Sioux County Sheriff's Office along
with the City of Hull oversee these ordinances. The ordinances are in place to make Hull a safer, cleaner and better
place to live. For a complete copy, contact the city office or library. We also have the planning and zoning regulations
for the City of Hull. The City of Hull and its council put together these rules in 1993 that affect how things can be
erected within the city limits of Hull. These rules are administered by the Planning and Zoning Board.
City Ordinances
A. All Night Parking
No person, except those on emergency calls, shall park a vehicle on any street for a period of time longer than 30
minutes between the hours of 1:00am and 6:00am of any day during the period from November 1st to April 1st,
B. Removal of snow/Cutting of grass
It is the responsibility of a property owner to remove snow and cut grass. If an owner does not remove snow or cut
their grass within a reasonable time, the city may do so and assess the cost against the property owner.
C. Dog and Animal Ordinance
1. It is unlawful for any owner to allow an animal to run at large within the city limits. Violation is punishable by a fine of
$35.
2. It is unlawful for a person to keep more than two of the following types of animals: dog, cat, ferret, or rabbit.
3. It is unlawful for the owner of a dog to allow the pet to cause an annoyance or disturbance to any person or persons by
frequent habitual howling, yelping, barking, or running/chasing persons, bicycles or other vehicles.
D. Recreational Burning
Open burning is restricted. Recreational fires are allowed, but must be in a fire ring and must be a fire consisting of only
wood or charcoal. Violators will be prosecuted.
E. Moped rider
All mopeds must have a 4' flag attached to the back of their moped and each moped rider under the age of 18 must wear
a helmet (bicycle helmet). Fines will be from $5.00 to $35.00.
F. Junk and Junk Vehicles
It is unlawful for any person to store, accumulate or allow to remain on any private property within the city limits any junk
or junk vehicle. All vehicles must have an up-to-date license or they will be towed away by the city.
G. Weeds, Brush
A property owner must not exceed dense growth of all weeds, vines, brush or other vegetation in the city so as to
constitute a health and safety issue. The city may spray or cut down any weeds or brush and assess the cost against the
property owner.
